14 September 2020 Dear Chairman

Foreshore encroachment policy report

Thank you for your letter requesting information on the Foreshore encroachment policy.

We have just completed the revised policy and will be lodging it shortly. The delay was caused in part by the restriction imposed under the Covid19 lockdown, but also in part due to the fact that the researcher who had been commissioned to carry out the detailed review of the foreshore suffered a very serious illness. The review has since been completed by the Law Officers conveyancing department which allowed the policy report to be compiled and a revised policy to be drafted.

The policy report has been considered by the Council of Ministers and the policy has been accepted in principle.

We will be presenting an outline of the policy with you on Tuesday 15 September at 3.30pm. Yours sincerely

Deputy Kevin Lewis Minister for Infrastructure
