Dear Chief Minister
Legal Aid Guidelines Committee
Thank you for your letter dated 22nd January 2020 and for the information provided within it. I am writing to you to request further information on the membership of the Legal Aid Guidelines Committee (this letter will henceforth refer to it as "the Committee").
These are as follows:
• Will all members of the Shadow Committee be retained as members of the Committee once it is formally constituted;
• What external support, presentations or advice, if any, has the shadow Committee received from law firms, experts, or other relevant stakeholders; and
• What responsibilities does the Judicial Greffier undertake in his capacity as Chair of the shadow Committee, and what involvement does he have with its two sub-groups?
Whilst we understand that the Committee has yet to be formally constituted, and is thereby operating as a shadow committee, we believe it is essential that we understand the full details of its current operations and structure.
Please could you respond to these requests by close of business on Monday 2nd March 2020. Yours sincerely
Deputy Steve Ahier Chair
Legal Aid Review Panel
