4th February 2021 Dear Chief Minister

Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel and Public Accounts Committee COVID-19 Reviews

In response to your letter of 26th January 2021, we, as Chairs of the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel and Public Accounts Committee would like to assure you that we have liaised closely at every stage of formulating reviews into the Government's COVID-19 response. As you will be aware, the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel has been carrying out ongoing reviews since the first stages of the pandemic to provide concurrent scrutiny of your actions and policies. This, at times, has included retrospective review of documents, due to their delayed release, which has helped to form timely suggestions aiming to aid forward decision making, communications and use of public finances. Terms of Reference of the reviews can be found on the scrutiny website.

The Public Accounts Committee will be conducting its own review from March through 2021, which will, as per its remit, take a retrospective view of the Covid-19 response as implemented by the Executive, and will take into consideration reports by the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel, the Economic and International Affairs Panel, the Health and Social Security Panel, and the Comptroller and Auditor General, amongst others. The Committee will publish its Terms of Reference in due course. We confirm that we continue to meet with the Comptroller and Auditor General to ensure there is no overlap or duplication of scrutiny work undertaken. Furthermore, mindful of time and work pressures on Scrutiny and government/Non-Ministerial Officers, we have endeavoured to organise joint briefings, and share requests for, and receipt of, information, wherever practical.

We trust that this response allays any concerns you may have but please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further clarification on this issue.

Yours sincerely

Senator Kristina Moore   Deputy Inna Gardiner

Chair, Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel  Chair, Public Accounts Committee
