20th April 2021

Dear Chief Minister

Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel Press Release Procedures

During a private briefing with the Director of Communications, held on 25 November 2020, procedures concerning production, oversight and publishing of Government of Jersey press releases were discussed. The Director indicated, as you have publicly confirmed, that a number of evaluations of these procedures were carried out following issues in political oversight of press releases regarding the former Chief Executive Officer and his appointment as a Non-Executive Director of a private company. The Panel requests that the following, be forwarded for its consideration:

Any reports produced on the topic, we believe there were three reviews conducted, including those made by the Press Office as well as the Director of Communications.

Updated procedures regarding production, oversight and publishing of press releases, with changes highlighted.

We look forward to your response and would appreciate it if this could please be received by Friday 30th April 2021.

Yours sincerely

Senator Kristina Moore

Chair, Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel
