Senator Ian Gorst

Minister for External Relations and Financial Services By email

17th January 2022 Dear Minister

p.112-2021 - Draft Financial Services (Amendment of Law No. 6) (Investment Business) (Jersey)

Pension Regulations

I write to you following your confirmation of the Panel's request for a deferral to the debate on the above proposition to allow us time to undertake additional work.

We note from the report within the proposition that

"The Government issued 2 consultations on the broader topic of Jersey introducing a comprehensive framework for pension regulation in 2018 and 2019. A month-long Report Draft  Financial  Services  (Amendment  of  Law  No.  6)  (Investment  Business)  (Jersey) Regulations 202- legislative consultation on the Draft Amendments was issued in September 2021. The Draft Amendments were worked on by a group of regulatory and pension experts drawn from Industry (the "Working Group"). No significant issues were raised by the public or Industry following the legislative consultation in September"

We would be grateful if you could provide us with the details of the legislative consultation on the Draft Amendments which was issued in September 2021 together with the results of the Draft Amendments following completion of their review by the working group'.

If you have any further questions regarding this matter or our work in general, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Deputy David Johnson
