Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel By email

09 August 2022 Dear Deputy Mezec,

Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel Work Programme and Information Request

Thank you for your letter dated the 28th of July 2022.

My immediate priority is, of course, to deliver the measures proposed in our cost-of-living mini- budget on 2 August. Once the draft Finance (Budget – Cost of Living) (Jersey) Law 202- has been debated and hopefully agreed by the States Assembly, my focus will be on any further, longer-term measures to help with the cost of living and making housing more accessible and affordable for Islanders.

I am also currently focused on helping to deliver the key priorities outlined in the Chief Minister's vision and 100-day plan.

I remain committed to delivering Independent Taxation to replace the system of so-called "married-person's taxation" and also the OCED's Pillar 1 and 2, on the taxation of the digital economy.

I am afraid I am not in a position at this time to confirm further detail of my Treasury work programme to the panel. Work has begun to establish a work plan, discussions are ongoing with fellow Ministers and Officers to establish this plan, my priorities and my approach to action these. As the Minister for Treasury and Resources, it is vital that before I confirm my plan and priorities, I have had the chance to understand the work programmes across Government and discuss with the Council of Ministers. Once this work has been completed by the end of August, I will update the panel.

I can confirm the Revenue Policy Development Board has not met since 11 March 2022 and the notes of that meeting are available on the Government website.

Yours sincerely

Deputy Ian Gorst

Minister for Treasury and Resources
