30th January 2023

Dear Minister,

Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel Financial Services Portfolio

During the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel's Quarterly Public Hearing with you on 27th January 2023, the Panel heard that a decision has been taken for the financial services portfolio to remain under the responsibility of the Minister for External Relations and Financial Services as opposed to being transferred to the Minister for Treasury and Resources.

The Panel notes that it was not consulted with prior to this decision being made, as it would have expected.

In light of the above, the Panel has agreed to request confirmation of whether its understanding is correct, the rationale for the decision and an explanation of why consultation with the Panel was not sought by the Ministers prior to the decision being made.

The Panel look forward to receiving this information via a formal written response by no later than Monday 6th February 2023. Please be advised that it is the intention of the Panel to publish any response received on the States Assembly Website.

Yours sincerely,

Deputy Sam Mézec

Chair
