Item 5] The Panel noted that the Minister for Home Affairs was due to

attend upon the Panel at 11:00am on 29th October 2007.

The Panel considered arrangements for Public Hearings. It set aside the week beginning 12th November 2007 for Hearings to occur and identified witnesses it would potentially wish to see. It

was agreed to invite the Minister for Home Affairs to a Hearing on WM 26th November 2007.

The Panel considered the potential benefit of receiving a briefing on event-led tourism from the Department of Economic Development.

The Officer was requested to make the appropriate enquiries. WM

The Panel considered progress on the review to date. It discussed the written submissions it had received and identified questions and issues that it would wish to address during the review. The Panel also  considered  a  briefing  paper  that  outlined  broader  lines  of enquiry that it might wish to pursue during the review. The Panel endorsed the lines of enquiry as being worthy of further study.

The Panel was advised that an individual had expressed a wish to

meet the Panel. The Panel agreed to meet this individual and requested the Officer to make the necessary arrangements. WM
