Item 1 02.01.08

Waste Plant Review

The Panel noted that BDO Acto Limited, forensic accountants had provided their daily engagement rate.

The Panel approved the day rate of £1630.00 for a maximum of 15 days  for  the  engagement  of  BDO  Acto  Limited,  forensic accountants.  It  was  noted  that  the  cost  of  BDO  could  vary  if additional expertise was required from BDO Stoy Hayward LLP, London. Any additional costs would not be known until discussions had taken place with Juniper at which point, requirements could be ascertained and a contract drafted.

The Panel noted that its first meeting with both of its advisors was scheduled for the 1st February 2008.

The Panel requested that the contract be processed in time for the Chairman to meet with BDO on the 21st January 2008.

The Panel discussed its consultation response to the above with the Minister for Planning and Environment.

The Panel was advised that the Chairman and the Minister would undertake a two day visit to Malmo at their own expense on the 19th and  20th  February  2008.  The  Panel  supported  the  visit  and suggested that the arrangements should be made by the Scrutiny Officer. It was noted that the Deputy Greffier had indicated that arrangements could be made by the Office and that the Department could be reimbursed as necessary following the visit.
