Intellectual Property Unregistered Rights (IPURL) The Panel received comments from its adviser on the response by the Minister for Economic Development to the comments and questions raised by its adviser's initial report on the draft subordinate IPURL legislation. The Panel agreed to begin drafting its covering Comments on the lodged legislation, to be considered at its next scheduled meeting. In addition, the Panel considered the adviser's response to its correspondence regarding personal image rights. The Panel agreed to request its adviser to prepare a preliminary report to assist its determination of the merits of undertaking a more detailed Review of Jersey's legislative framework in this area. This report would outline registration and rights generally, current approaches to image rights protection including in the United Kingdom and major European Union markets and current trends in registries. The work would be undertaken within the current IPURL budge, with the report proposed to be submitted by the end of the month. |
