Item 7 09.02.12 516/5(17) | 1. Customs and Immigration Department Members gave preliminary consideration to the outcome of their discussions with the Customs and Immigration Service and decided to seek further information from both the States of Jersey Police and the Alcohol and Drugs Service on the current prevalence of drugs in the Island. |

516/32 | 2. Tasers: Proposed introduction into the Island The Panel considered a proposal received from Deputy M. Tadier for a review of the Minister for Home Affairs proposal to introduce tasers for the use of the States of Jersey Police in the Island. Members recognised that there were issues about the use of tasers, including the circumstances in which they could be used, the training and guidelines given to officers and the extent to which they were appropriate for the local community. The Panel agreed in principle to undertake the proposed review and requested its officer to prepare a scope and terms of reference. Members also agreed to invite Deputy Tadier to participate in the review as a co-opted member. | MH |
