| 1. Record of meeting The Minutes of the meeting held on 14th December 2011 were approved and signed. | MO |
14.12.11 Item 4 510/1(3) | 2. Scrutiny training Members were advised of the latest information received from the House of Commons visits manager regarding the proposed visit for training purposes. Owing to a busy schedule the earliest opportunity for a visit would now be in April, after the Easter recess. Several possible dates had been identified and it was agreed that the Scrutiny Officer would follow these up with other Panels to establish the preferred date for a joint visit. | MO |
514/2(24) | 3. Taxi regulation The Chairman briefed members following a private meeting with the Minister for Transport and Technical Services on 19th December 2011 on the topic of taxi regulation. It was noted that this meeting had arisen following an enquiry to the department on behalf of a member of the public by the Chairman as a Private Member. The Chairman apologised to Panel members for not involving them, as the matter had been tabled at short notice and subsequently developed into a more general presentation on taxi regulation. Members received informal notes of the meeting in confidence and agreed that this matter should be added to possible topics for consideration under the Panel's work programme. | MO |
14.12.11 Item 2 514/1(18) | 4. Work programme Members discussed a previously circulated draft list of topics and reviewed possible priorities. It was noted that further items would probably need to be added to the list following a meeting with the Minister for Transport and Technical Services to be held on 12th January. The Scrutiny Officer was requested to amend the list accordingly and revise as necessary following that meeting. | MO |
514/14 | 5. Ministerial response The Panel noted the response newly presented to the States by the Minister for Planning and Environment to the previous Panel's review Protecting our Marine Environment' (S.R.15/2011). Virtually all of the Panel's findings and recommendations had been received favourably and all but one recommendation (which was subject to legal advice) had been either partially or completely accepted. It was agreed that some follow up would be required in respect of continuing concerns about water pollution incidents, either in the House by way of a statement and/or by letter to the Minister. The Scrutiny Officer was asked to draft a suitable document for approval. | MO |
