22.10.12 Item 1 514/19 | 2. Ash Disposal The Panel agreed detailed amendments to the latest version of the draft report. The Scrutiny Officer was asked to prepare a stakeholder version of the draft for circulation to departments early in the week commencing 19th November, the aim being to complete and present the final report to the States by 11th December. There was still some information required in respect of possibilities for treating ash waste in France (a matter raised by the Minister for Planning and Environment) and clarification would be sought from the Department of the Environment. | MO MO |
| 3. Air Quality Strategy The Panel noted an offer from the Minister for Health and Social Services to include the draft air quality strategy on the agenda for a meeting planned to discuss radon on 28th November 2012. Members agreed that the meeting should focus exclusively on radon, as the Panel had already received information from the Department of the Environment concerning the air quality strategy and was not anticipating an early review of this topic. The Chairman would inform the Minister of the Panel's decision. | JY |
| 4. Energy Policy The Panel agreed to postpone discussion of the draft Energy Policy until its next meeting. |

29.10.12 Item 2 514/20 | 5. Radon The meeting was joined by the Connétable of St. Lawrence for this item, the Connétable having agreed to participate in the planned review of radon as a co-opted member. The Panel noted that following contact between the Chairman and the Minister for Health and Social Services, information requested from the department had finally been received. The Scrutiny Officer was asked to prepare review files for members. | MO |
| The Panel discussed the draft terms of reference for the review. It was agreed that they should be amended to include the need for follow-up to radon testing. It would also be important to clarify which department had responsibility for different aspects of the existing policy. It was agreed that the Panel should pass on any suggested questions for the meeting on 28th November for the Scrutiny Officer to collate in advance. The Scrutiny Officer was also asked to notify the Department of the Environment of the forthcoming review and to arrange a briefing for the Panel to include the Minister and Director of Building Control. | MO MO MO |
