514/19 | 1. Ash Disposal The Panel considered its draft report which had previously been circulated by e-mail. Particular consideration was given to the implications of the information and testimony gathered during the review and the Panel identified provisional conclusions that it would seek to draw. During the course of the Panel's deliberations, it was noted that the Chairman had tabled questions to the Minister for Planning and Environment for the next sitting of the States Assembly. Subsequent to its consideration, the Panel received Mr. J. Rogers, Chief Officer – Transport and Technical Services, and discussed the options available in respect of the treatment of Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) and Air Pollution Control Residue (APCr). |

514/20 | 2. Radon The Panel recalled its requests for information on radon and noted that it had not received all the information it had requested. The Panel was advised that the Chairman had consequently contacted the Minister for Health and Social Services about the matter. It was agreed to await the Minister's response before deciding upon a subsequent course of action. The Scrutiny Officer was requested to verify the procedure to be followed in instances when Scrutiny Panels were unable to obtain information they had requested. | WM |
514/1(31) | 3. Planning System The Panel recalled its previous agreement that a review relating to registered buildings and heritage policy would be undertaken in the first quarter of 2013. The Panel was advised that, following a meeting between the Chairman and the Chief Minister, it was apparent that a larger review could potentially be undertaken of the planning process in general. Consideration was therefore given to whether the scope of the Panel's intended review should be widened. It was agreed not to widen the scope and that, in respect of more general issues relating to the planning process, the Panel would await further action from the Chief Minister in the first instance. |
|
| The Panel considered whether Connétable D.W. Mezbourian would be invited to take part in the proposed review of registered buildings and heritage policy or whether she would be invited to take part in the review relating to radon. It was agreed to offer the Connétable the choice of which topic she worked on. |
