| 1. Record of meeting The Minutes of the meeting held on 11th February 2014 were approved and signed. | MO |
514/24 | 2. Waste Water Strategy The Panel considered 3 proposals received from potential advisers to the review. It was noted that a further proposal had been promised but had not yet arrived, despite the company concerned being aware of time constraints applying to the selection process and the review. It was therefore decided to make a choice from the tenders in hand. After some discussion members were unanimous in their selection, and the Scrutiny Officer was asked to inform the successful party and make arrangements for a contract. The Panel agreed that subject to the adviser's report being provided as requested by 4th April 2014, this would be discussed at its scheduled meeting on 8th April. It was suggested that hearings with the Ministers for Transport and Technical Services and Planning and Environment should take place shortly after the Easter recess, and the Scrutiny Officer was asked to contact departments with a view to arranging these for Friday 2nd May. | MO MO MO |
Item 3 11.02.14 514/1(25) | 3. Taxi regulation The Panel was still awaiting a report from the Transport and Technical Services Department on the outcomes of their latest consultation on the Taxi Regulation White Paper. It was agreed that public hearings with stakeholders would therefore be put back until the Panel's radon and Waste Water Strategy reviews were completed. It was noted that the Scrutiny Manager had offered the Panel additional resources to enable the meeting arrangements to be put in place while the Scrutiny Officer was still engaged in other review work. Dates for hearings in late May were provisionally agreed and the Scrutiny Officer was asked to book rooms accordingly. | MO |
514/1(18) | 4. Crematorium emissions The Minister for Health and Social Services had replied to the Chairman's letter of 21st February 2014 asking for clarification on crematorium emissions. It was agreed that as the response included comments concerning actions expected to be taken by the Minister for Planning and Environment, a letter should also be sent to that Minister asking for confirmation and any additional comments before the Panel made the correspondence public via the Scrutiny website. | MO |
Item 7 11.02.14 514/20 | 5. Radon It was agreed that members would consider the outcomes of the radon hearings held on 7th March 2014 and provide comments by email to guide the Scrutiny Officer in preparing a Panel report. | MO |
