Item 1 23/01/18 | 1. Draft Marriage and Civil Status (Jersey) Law Recalling its previous decision to lodge further amendments to the Draft Marriage and Civil Status (Jersey) Law, the Panel noted that two amendments were lodged on 25th January 2018. Noting the effect of the second amendment (P.91/2017 Amd.(2) Amd.(2)) was to correct a technical deficiency in the second amendment to P.91/2017 lodged by the Panel, it was agreed to propose the amendment as amended by P.91/2017 Amd.(2) Amd.(2). The Panel noted that the Chairman had held discussions with the Law Draftsman about another possible amendment to the Draft Law to restrict the scope of the "Tolerance Clause" proposed by the Panel. After due consideration, it was decided not to proceed with this amendment. The Panel later met with the Chief Minister in private to discuss the Draft Law and various amendments. | SS |
