Subject: Sale of Jersey Telecom

I remain unconvinced that selling Jersey Telecom is in the best interest's of the Island and feel that before any talk of a sale was made public JT Staff should have been made aware of it

The possible value of the Company has been speculated on in the JEP but lets not forget the people who have made this asset for the States and indeed for the people of Jersey. I refer to the Staff without whose determination and hard work to succeed the Company value in my opinion would be somewhat less

Legislation to protect Pensions and terms & conditions that Staff have worked hard to gain must be put in place before any sale is contemplated and this will hopefully protect the Staff of any other Utility that falls foul of the Hatchet

I understand that if a sale proceeds then Cable & wireless have declared an interest. What will be done to ensure that either C&W or any other purchaser will have the same level of Customer care and 24/7 support that we enjoy with JT?

I am all for Competition but am at a loss to understand why the Regulator Issued the amount of licences that it has when we now see that before the Competition has even had a chance to take a bite of the Cherry the main player may be taken out of the game

I understand that Bharti are mainly dealing in Mobile Communications so if C&W were to bid successfully where does that leave us?

I'll tell you where. In the same situation as the Jersey St Malo route where thanks to so called competition we are now in my opinion paying inflated prices most of the time
