Surely the main priority should be to SIMPLIFY the speed limits i.e fewer different limits and only one over a distance of, say, 600 to 800 yards - at present it is possible to drive through 3 or 4 different limits in this short a distance.
Also why have a limit of 30 on a main road and then one of 40 on narrow side roads i.e St.Martin's/Gorey main road.
If green lanes are to be attractive to walkers, cyclists etc then coaches must be banned at all times and other heavy vehicles limited to proven access requirements - the speed limit is really irrelevant if you are forced to climb into a hedge when confronted by a coach etc.
At present there are far too many 'knee jerk' limits which have been implemented because a single accident has occurred - this however is merely indicative of the general nanny state attitude adopted in many areas of society.
