Sir,
I am writing to express my strongly held view that the Green Lane speed limit should remain at 15 mph.
Green Lanes are very special to Jersey and the 15 mph speed limit has served us well. Any change to this would compromise the 'integrity' of the Green Lane scheme, and the proposed speed limit of 20 mph would blur the distinction between Green Lanes and other roads (which are not designated as Green Lanes) which already have a 20 mph limit, but where pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders do NOT have priority.
Whilst I understand that Constable Jackson and TTS are anxious to standardise on speed limits in the island, this would be a step too far and would effectively be the death knell of Jersey's Green Lanes.
PLEASE LEAVE OUR GREEN LANES ALONE!! Yours sincerely
Chris Le Cornu
