I believe current speed limits are appropriate for the Island motorists - we have just got used to green lanes being 15mph and to change it now would not be sensible - we already have in place speed restrictions of 30mph on some roads and 40mph on others and I see no problem with driving at 40mph on our major roads.
Some urban areas currently have 20mph speed restrictions already in place.
It might be worth reviewing some of the current speed restrictions on some roads to see if they are still necessary, I would be totally apposed to introducing speed cameras and fixed penalties.
More regular speed checks by the Honorary and periodic campaigns to remind people of the dangers of speeding would be my preferred methods of ensuring drivers kept within the limits set - regards David Bisson
