Dear Sir/Madam
I live in a green lane in St Ouen. Changing the speed limit from 15mph to 20mph in green lanes would only encourage people to drive faster than they already do. I am very much against the speed limit being raised for both recreational and safety reasons. Unfortunately a lot of drivers exceed the speed limit greatly already. Pointing out to drivers that it is a green lane is met with abuse!
This particular green lane is well used by:
walkers dog walkers cyclists horse riders runners visitors children
My kitchen window overlooks the lane and every day I see at least 2 or 3 drivers on their mobile phones, either talking or texting. Some people think it is acceptable to use mobiles in green lanes as they are driving more slowly. On the spot fines should be enforced for speeding offences and using mobile phones when driving.
15 mph signs should be painted at regular intervals on the tarmac in green lanes - or the tarmac could be green!
The road from St Ouen through to St Mary changes from 30mph to 40mph where the road is quite narrow and there are a lot of concealed exits. Exiting is extremely dangerous and it would be better to keep the whole of this stretch of road at 30mph. Traffic mirrors or SLOW signs on the road would also be beneficial.
Many thanks Diana du Feu
