Dear Scrutiny Panel
I was at this evenings public meeting at the Pomme D'or Hotel and as is always the way thought of a point/question on the drive home.
It may have been clarified previously but I would like to know and the Minister to clarify what he classifies as a Household Income. Is this purely based on Parents of the child's income or the actual household. It came to me as we are currently living with my parents at the moment. Whilst this would not affect the outcome for us if this proposal goes ahead, if the Minister is taking a view that it is indeed the household income (all earners within that household) then this may affect many more people than first thought. For instance a single parent who is working part time and thinking that this has no bearing on them but they happen to living with their parents who both also work would equate to three incomes which could easily top the £75k criteria.
I'm sure the Minister is talking about Parental income but this is yet something further to add to the confusion of the half thought out policy that has been proposed assuming that everyone falls into nice pigeon holes.
I would also like to know how is the Means testing going to take place? Tax Returns? Documented Evidence?
I thank you for all your time this evening and I hope it was a productive and decision impacting meeting
