Hi Deputy Doublet ,
I've just seen that you're asking for feedback on the loss of free nursery places. I think it's disgraceful! A household income of £75k isn't even high in Jersey, it's basically penalising families with 2 working parents even if only 1 has a decent job. What will happen is some parents won't work to benefit from the free nursery places meaning a loss in tax and potentially increased income support payments. If we're a democracy why were the public not consulted on these changes? If the States didn't waste so much money on bureaucracy, they wouldn't have to make these cuts that will affect so many ordinary households. While this is being taken away from hard working people, millionaires are benefitting from long term care. Also perhaps if Jersey started taxing the banks a little bit more they could cover the £250k per year that they're going to save. Why is it the islanders that always have to suffer? While the rich get richer, the poor get poorer!
Kind regards
