There is no protection for little boats like me, id like see a limit line for foreign boats to bring us inline with other islands in the UK and within France. Personally I'd like to suggest for local boats a limit to size,so for example up to three miles inshore only small boats, from 3-6 mile for anything over 6metre to 10metre and anything over 15 metre can't come within 10 mile. Plymouth have a similar rule and it helps greatly to protect the shorelines, protect species and all fishermen get a chance to fish the waters equally. I'd also like to see jerseys authoritys protect our waters as against foreign and unlicensed vessels and work with the fishermen more. Also I'd like to suggest like france, that all pleasure boats be limited to how many pots and length of net they use. France have a very good system here so I feel we are very much outdated and systems need to be put in place,it's long overdue that the only recognised agricultural trade given support has been the farming industry, this year it has taken an pandemic for us to see financial aid. Our jersey fishing licences are governed by UK to which each fishermen had to sign and accept all aspects both given and to receive, however we do not get the saftey aids or support of any type. Jersey needs to make up its mind weather it is English, french or given we are under the crown but not obligated to their laws thrn surely it's long overdue that we cherish the freedom and set forth an example for the world to follow.
