Due to a quick turnaround time, as a result of a changeover of our officer, we have only managed to get comments from a couple of our Council members, which are outlined below:

Duty on Alcohol and Tobacco should be aligned, with both increasing by RPI, or a below RPI of 2%.

We agree with freezing duty on fuel, but would also recommend removing the 9% climate tax for a period, say one year, to be reviewed after that.

We don't agree with freezing vehicle emissions duty, as it will only result in used car prices rising for consumers, and has no effect on global climate change.

We think the reduction of import GST should be deferred until 1 January 2024 at the earliest, to help consumers. If possible, GST should be removed from food and essentials.

Making benefits in kind tax exempt will have very little effect and should not be extended.
