It is obvious that relocating to the island is costly. It would be expected that if one is relocating, with families, the system would accommodate them in terms of housing licenses and registration status.
While research can only assist to an extent, experiencing difficulty and restrictions because of the limitations of the work permit is only felt on arrival. The restriction to move from an employer who is not able to provide a license for eg is onerous & places stress & anxiety to families arriving on the island [sic].
The policy provides for completing probation unsuccessfully but does not provide nor allow that if probation is completed successfully, one would be able to improve one's financial/license challenges [sic]. Due to a shortage of industry candidates, relocation are used as an opportunity to exploit 3rd world candidates & has become "modern day slavery" [sic].
One would think that these individuals are bringing their skill, economic contribution to the island and would be afforded some privileges but this is far from it. Skilled workers are treated like labourers and employers, nor the immigration office are able to understand the constraints and challenges experienced by the arriving individuals [sic]. When assistance is requested a generic response in terms of the prevailing regulations is provided blindly with no concern for individual circumstances nor any examples to be relied upon as a benchmark for situations in which the regulation could be deviated from [sic].
Single income earners are prevented and restricted from taking up part time employment or even setting up other entrepreneurial opportunities thus making it even more financially difficult to maintain dependants.
Adult Dependants on these work permits are also restricted depending on the status received.
