About
The purpose of the draft Police (Complaints and Conduct) (Jersey) Law 202- (the draft Law) is to modernise the existing legislative framework dealing with complaints against the police, in line with current good practice elsewhere in the British Isles. It is intended to provide for a more consistent approach to all police officers, to ensure equity of treatment, common standards and improved clarity for those making and handling complaints.
The draft Law was lodged on the 14th February 2022 and is due to be debated in the States Assembly on 29th March 2022. The draft Law is intended to act as a framework for updated processes and procedures to fit into. This will be achieved through draft Regulations which will be brought forward for debate after the election of the draft Law is passed by the current Assembly.
