On 3 May 2019, the States Assembly approved a proposition of Deputy Montfort Tadier that expenditure on the arts, heritage and culture should be increased in the Government Plan so that it reaches 1% of overall States revenue expenditure by 2022. The Government Plan for 2020 to 2023 will be debated by the Assembly later in the year and will set expenditure levels for the States. Deputy Tadier's proposition was approved by 27 votes to 15.
Earlier in the day, States members rejected a proposition from Senator Kristina Moore that the Island Plan should be revised in order to rezone certain fields next to St. Peter's Village so that affordable housing could be built on them. The Senator's proposition was rejected with 9 members voting in favour, 28 against and 2 abstaining. An amendment to the proposition from Deputy Steve Luce, which had sought to reduce the number of fields which would be rezoned, was also rejected by 26 votes to 6 (with 3 abstentions).
