STATES OF JERSEY

PROPOSED COMMON STRATEGIC POLICY 2018–22 (P.110/2018): FIFTH AMENDMENT (P.110/2018 Amd.(5)) – COMMENTS

Presented to the States on 30th November 2018 by the Council of Ministers

STATES GREFFE

2018  P.110 Amd.(5) Com.

COMMENTS

This amendment adds a fifth on-going' initiative to the Common Strategic Policy ("CSP").  The  amendment  focuses  on  the  work  of  the  Privileges  and  Procedures Committee ("PPC") and secures the commitment of government to work with the States Greffe and the PPC to consider issues such as voter registration and barriers to a higher election turnout. In addition, the Council will also work with the Parishes recognising the role they play in registration.

The amendment appropriately acknowledges the role of the PPC and expands on themes within the CSP regarding open and accessible government. The Council of Ministers therefore support this amendment.
