Amendment  A1.  The Committee, with reference to its Minute No. B2 of 19th June 2017, noted (No.33) of the  that a minor amendment was required to Amendment (No.33) of the Standing Orders Standing  of the States of Jersey (P.59/2017) (Amendment (No.33)').

Orders of the

States of  The  Committee  recalled  that  the  commencement  provisions  contained  within Jersey  Amendment (No.33) provided for it to come into force on the same date as the (P.59/2017):  Commissioner for Standards (Jersey) Law 2017. Amendment (No.33) and the Draft first  Commissioner  for  Standards  (Jersey)  Law  2017  (Appointed  Day)  Act  201- amendment.  (P.58/2017) had been lodged au Greffe' simultaneously and it had been envisaged 450/99/2(12)  that they would both be debated at the same meeting of the States and would take

effect at the same time.

However,  whilst  P.58/2017  was  adopted  on  19th  July  2017  and  brought  the Commissioner for Standards (Jersey) Law 2017 into force on 24th July 2017, the debate on Amendment (No.33) had been deferred until September 2017.

The  Committee  noted  that  the  commencement  provisions  contained  within Amendment (No.33) indicated that it would come into force on the same date as the Commissioner for Standards (Jersey) Law 2017. As that Law was already in force, it was necessary to amend the commencement provisions and the first amendment had the effect of bringing Amendment (No.33), if adopted, into effect forthwith'.

The Committee approved the amendment and requested the Committee Clerk to take the necessary action.
