States of A1. The Committee considered a report, which had been prepared for presentation Jersey to the States Assembly, in connexion with the renewal of the membership of the Complaints Chair and 7 members of the States of Jersey Complaints Panel until September 2024. Panel: renewal
of The Committee recalled that, since the States had agreed to consider the membership. establishment of a Public Sector Ombudsman (P.32/2018) - Public Services
Ombudsman: establishment of office', the long-term future of the States of Jersey Complaints Panel had remained uncertain. However, the office of the Public Services Ombudsman had yet to be established and it was important to maintain the existing provision so that Islanders could seek recourse in relation to decisions or actions of Ministers or Government Departments. Consequently, the Committee was being asked to approve the renewed appointment of the States of Jersey Complaints Panel until September 2024, in accordance with Article 5(2) of the Administrative Decisions (Review) Jersey Law 1982. The Committee was advised that Article 2 of the States of Jersey (Appointment Procedures) Jersey Law 2018, required the presentation of a report for a period of at least 2 weeks before formal confirmation of the re-appointments.
The Committee accordingly approved the report and requested that the Greffier of the States make the necessary arrangements for it to be presented to the States.
States of A2. The Committee considered the States Assembly Annual report, which had Assembly been prepared for presentation to the States.

The Committee recalled that the Annual report set out, among other things, the purpose and context of the Island's elected parliament, together with information pertaining to the work of the Privileges and Procedures Committee and the States Greffe.
