Standing Order 55A – remote participation

THE STATES, with reference to their Act dated 14th September 2021, in which they had agreed that, notwithstanding Standing Order 55A(1), members who did not wish to attend in the States Chamber might continue to take part in States meetings using Microsoft Teams (until the States had considered and voted upon a proposition to re-apply Standing Order 55A(1) or to repeal or vary the terms of the Standing Order), assembled in accordance with Standing Order 55A with members able to participate remotely using Microsoft Teams.

Increase to Christmas Bonus P.59/2023

THE STATES commenced consideration of a proposition of Deputy Robert James Ward of St. Helier Central  entitled  Increase  to  Christmas  Bonus'  (P.59/2023)  and,  adopting  paragraph  (a)  of  the proposition, requested the Minister for Social Security to increase the amount of the Christmas Bonus in 2023 from £84.87 to £114.19 to reflect inflation.

THE STATES, adopting a proposition of the Minister for Social Security entitled Income Support Medical Appeal Tribunal: Re-Appointment of member' (P.60/2023), re-appointed, in accordance with Article 9 of the Income Support (Jersey) Law 2007 and further to a process overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission, Dr. Benjamin Griffiths as a member of the Income Support Medical Appeal Tribunal, for a period of 4 years.

Reinstate the re-use centre at La Collette P.65/2023

THE  STATES  commenced  consideration  of  a  proposition  of   Deputy  Catherine  Dolores   Curtis  of St. Helier Central entitled Reinstate the re-use centre at La Collette' (P.65/2023) and, adopting an amendment of the Minister for Infrastructure (P.65/2023 Amd.), agreed that, for the words "the end of 2023",  there  should  be  substituted  "April  2024"  and,  for  the  words  "and  with",  there  should  be substituted ", to allow for the current tender process for operation of the service to be completed and, if this is not successful, to look at the feasibility of the re-use centre being."

THE STATES, adopting the proposition of Deputy Catherine Dolores Curtis of St. Helier Central , as amended, requested the Minister for Infrastructure to take the necessary steps to reinstate the re-use centre at La Collette by April 2024, in the existing purpose-built building, to allow for the current tender process for operation of the service to be completed and, if this was not successful, to look at the feasibility of the re-use centre being operated by Government of Jersey employees.
