ANSWER TO BE TABLED ON TUESDAY 20th JUNE 2006
Question
What progress, if any, has been made by the Minister on the assessment of the potential of a land value tax for Jersey and when will any such findings be presented to the States?
Answer
As part of the Fiscal Strategy approach, research is currently being undertaken into appropriate environmental and other taxes, including the potential for a land value tax, which may be of benefit to the Island. This work is being led by the Director for the Environment and a high level options report will be presented to the States for consideration in the autumn session.
