Deputy I. Gardiner of St. Helier will ask the following question of the Minister for Children and Education –
"Following the announcement in October 2020 that work would be undertaken with the Children's Commissioner on launching a new board to improve transparency in Children's Services, will the Minister advise what progress has been made to date on this matter?" WQ,167/2021
The following response was provided in writing in accordance with Standing Order 63(9) as the oral question was not asked before the end of the time allowed for Oral Questions:
The Minister is committed to greater transparency in the delivery of safeguarding and care in the Island.
The Director of Safeguarding and Care has met with the Children's Commissioner to discuss the idea of a Children's Social Care Transparency Board which, if progressed, will be made up of people with direct experience of being involved with our services and professionals working within them. Given the pressure of the pandemic, the notion of such a board will be revisited later in the year and I will update the Assembly as and when there is more information.
