20 December 2018 Dear Chief Minister

Population and Migration

I write to inform you that the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel has agreed to undertake a review of Population and Migration in the first half of 2019.

In light of our heavy work programme, we anticipate starting the review in March 2019, following completion of other existing pieces of work.

We intend to undertake a high level of public engagement as part of our review, in order to report to the Assembly on the views of the public and industry. We hope that the evidence we gather and our final report will help inform the work of the Council of Ministers in drawing up a new Migration Policy.

We note your stated intention to establish a policy development board in this area and we await further details of the membership of this board and its terms of reference.

I will write to you again, prior to March 2019, with the Terms of Reference for our review. In the meantime, I would be happy to address any questions you may have about our work.

Yours sincerely

Senator Kristina Moore

Chairman Corporate Services Panel
