Dear Sir / Madam,

I understand that policing isn't cheap, I also understand that policing is required at an event such as Jersey Live; however I believe that Jersey live is a big event for the island. Especially for the younger generations of Jersey, I understand that the battle of flowers is a big event in Jersey, but this is aimed for a younger / tourists and families type audience. I am 20, and personally, as much as I enjoy the battle of flowers, it doesn't really seem to appeal to me.

From this, Jersey live has quickly become one of those major events on the island annual calendar, which should be embraced by the states, and not shunned. Such cultural events should be cherished and nurtured by the states, a lot of money could be (and may already be) becoming generated and brought into Jersey from this event.

Surely, if the power of the states was properly used, then the event could become much bigger, and the cost of policing could be paid for through correct management and partnership from the states, and not just thrown on top of an already expensive ticket.

Unfortunately, the ticket price this year for the line up was in my opinion; diabolical. And as much as I would like to support an event such as jersey live, I cannot afford this... and if the states want to charge for policing, then, to be blunt, thanks for destroying Jersey Live, an event which is aspiring to move Jersey forward in the world...
