I am happy to pay extra on a ticket price to ensure good policing for this sort of event, I went to Jerseylive with my wife and two children (11 and 7) and would be much less inclined to go with a lower level of policing thus leading to a greater chance of my children encountering larger number of Drunks and worse.

I would however add that if the event brings a benefit to the Island (tourist revenues etc) then a subsidy from general taxation should be considered. To be honest however the average festival goer is unlikely to be a big spender on the Island.

Also "touristy" events in their first two or three years of operation should be policed free of charge if their continuance is a deemed benefit to the Island, this would help organisers get events "off the ground".
