Dear Sirs/Madam
I feel the charge for policing at Jersey Live was a disgrace, given the amount of media coverage and visitor numbers it attracted. To hold such a big event like this in our Island is fantastic (as are events like the Air Display and The Battle of Flowers which also attract huge numbers from outside, and don't have to pay for policing) and it should be paid for from tax revenue.
I'm Jersey born and am very disillisioned by our current States members, feeling they are trying to make a name for themselves and leave a mark on their 'leadership' as opposed to being in office for the people and serving the people of Jersey. When spending needs to be cut, each department threatens lack of funding to the major facilities on the Island (education, medical etc) which is disgusting.
When are our taxes going to pay for things the people of Jersey want rather than rising wage costs of those voted in, not to mention monuments!?
I'm sure all future events will have to pay their way otherwise another 'GST' like tax will need to be implemented to cover the 'rising costs' again.
Faithfully Yours Helen Perchard
