Apologies for the late response, I've been off the island, but hope you'll still consider my views.
Hat's off to the level of safety and security, much better than before, but this was due to better organisation, not more police.
Having that many police around was more often than not just too much, especially in the dance tent – constantly weaving through the crowd without regard to those enjoying the music became a bit of a pain. Just too much. Previous year there was big shoving and pushing outside in the queue, this was because whoever supervised the queue didn't have a clue about crowd control. This has been handled much better this year, thanks.
About the cost, I guess tax payers' money would be better used, given the festival is another tourism event.
Tourism is failing because of high costs relative to other destinations, make it more competitive by charging tax payers rather than festival goers, but I would strongly argue for fewer but more able support at the festival in the first place.
Thanks for listening.
