User pays' seems a bit unfair on the public who attend these gigs, as they already pay tax to cover cost of police presence, though in my opinion, unless you are an errant motorist, you are unlikely to see much of a police presence anywhere.

The police do not manage to keep town under control – and it's not such a big town after all. I expect that they quite enjoy attending the Air Display, Battle of Flowers etc as there is not much trouble at any of those. However, has there been any great amount of trouble at the youngster's gigs? That is relevant. I did hear the costs involved in bringing over back up for the last Jersey Live, was it really necessary or was it complete overkill? I bet the visiting rozzers had a whale of a time, getting a break from real crime in the UK.

No, I do not think that it is fair that User Pays' – what do we actually pay them for? M. Morris.
