Dear Sir,
I'm writing with reference to being charged for policing Jersey Live through an increase in ticket prices.
I think there should be one rule for all such events; Jersey Live, Battle of Flowers, Battle of Britain etc. and either the States pay for the policing because they realise the value of such events to the economy or the costs are borne by the ticket purchasers of ALL events.
I don't want to get into a long winded debate about what my taxes cover but I thought that the Police were a public service?
Jersey Live is a fantastic event but lots of people believe that the 'powers that be' will eventually make things so difficult for the organisers, that this little event that puts Jersey on the global music map, will cease to exist. The States should be encouraging, helping or subsidising such a feel good festival that is enjoyed by thousands, but the general feeling is that it takes too many Members out of their 1970's comfort zone.
Regards
Darren Emmerson
