Dear Sirs

Jersey Live goers should not have to foot the additional costs to cover policing. Idid notattend Jersey Livethis year, however, I am strongly opposed to the fact thatfestival goersshould have to pay for policing. Especially as myself and the vast majority of the festival goers do not abuse the event and only a minority cause problems.

The tax that we pay should cover the cost for such events, especially as such events act as a huge boost for tourism and not to mention public awareness of the island. The states spending has very much been in the public eye recently and I struggle to have identified sensible spending on behalf of the states over the last few years.

It has to be realised that times have changed and although we need events such as the battle of flowers and the battle of britian to continue as part of the islands history, we also need more modern events such as the extremely well organised Jersey Live festival.

Maybe next time you drive through a local road resurfacing project and see 15 to 20 workman standing around smoking and chatting you will notice that money is being washed away elsewhere on the island.

Please do not let Jersey Live slip away!

Kind regards Phil Taylor
