I am writing with regards to the user pays policy for events such as jersey live. Clearly the consumer should not pay for the cost of policing such events which bring in substantial revenue into the states coffers. My argument isas follows. Firstly Jerseylive is vastly overpoliced especially when considering its excellent track record for crowd disturbances. Yet not only do the states employee far too many police for such an event but they condsider it necessary to bring in 'specialist' police from the mainland, yet another extravagant way for the states to waste money unecessarily. We should be encouraging such entreprenaurs who put on the likes of jersey live, but if we aren't careful we will force out one of the best things to come to jersey in a long time. The so-called black hole in the budget is vastly over-stated and if the States keep playing on this they will live to regret it before long.
