I have just read an email sent by the Jersey Live organisers. They appear to be trying to drum up support against payming for the policing of the Jersy Live Festival.
I appologise for this late reply but hope my views are of interest.
Jersy Live appears to have been a comercial venture at which many islanders (and others) enjoyed a good weekends entertainment. I have children who went to the event.
It is eveident that the event required policing. I don't think that is disputed (though to what level may be, but prevention is better than cure generally means that more rather than less is better). I can see no reason why anyone who did not attend the event should suffer (generally by way of burden on their tax bill). This leaves the only people to pay, the organisers or the participants.
The argument being used that this may cause problems to other charitable events is valid. I do howevwer think the key difference is some events are charitable and soem such as Jersey Live commercial.
Hope the above helps Regards
