Hello Patrick,
Yesterday morning's debate on Human Rights and Masts was the first States sitting I've attended. I would like to make the following observations.
It was with surprise that I noted your presentation on Phone Masts was severely curtailed as soon as you mentioned something about health issues. That the Ministers for Health & Home Affairs were absent from the Chamber during the entire of P&E's presentation. Perhaps this is procedural? That, although this is the end of 2006 and everything has moved on, P&E was allowed to elaborate at length on health issues based on a report dated April 2004. I think I have the correct dated. .Also, all forms of radiation were lumped together, that is domestic, which is not pulse and masts, which I believe are 'pulse'.
After lunch I was not able to return to hear the rest of the sitting, so I did not hear the outcome of your seemingly catch 22 situation. However, if you are still in a position to pursue this issue I can track down again an official 60 page Swiss Report dated 2006 and another from the EU Brussels dated 2001, which is old, but worth scanning through as it contains very relevant health information.
With regard to TETRA, Airwaves is now seeking to introduce, or may have done so already, TETRA 2, which will probably increase their product sales through replacements. Do you know whether Airtel and Airwaves are the same company? I think JT uses Airtel, though not sure, and the masts are Airwave.
As an observer it seemed the decision on masts had already been made and the Chamber was going through the motion to have it ratified. I do not know anything about Jersey politics, so please forgive my scepticism. It was a pity so much time was spent debating a procedural issue rather than getting down to the matter
Finally, does the number of proposed masts, was it just under 200 doubling to about 400 include all the TETRA masts or are these in addition? I would appreciate an answer on this.
I don't want to block up your Inbox, so please let me know if you already have, or are interested in, the above mentioned reports.
Kind regards.
