Dear Scrutiny,

Despite spotting that the deadline for feedback may be closed (27th?) I wanted to add a comment just in case you were still open to it.

In my opinion Fort Regent is definitely a neglected & forgotten community treasure, that will little effort required, could be restored into the children/teenager and family magnet that it was in the 80s.

I remember hoards of teenagers, dropped at the gates and left up there all day. The roller disco, Quasar, the pool tables, burger bar and swimming pool were an ideal hang-out. Occasionally kids sneaked in alcohol and cigarettes but were promptly spotted on the

CCTV and taken home by the police waiting at the gates (watching this occur as as kid was a big deterrent). Fort Regent was an ideal place to fence teenagers in and keep them off the streets. All the sports available up there also attracted kids attention i.e. Tai Kwon do/ Karate/Squash etc.

Roller discos are incredibly popular in the UK today with fancy dress (80s) nights packed out at the weekends http://www.renaissancerooms.co.uk/. Quasar etc is still very popular and the airsoft rifle facility at Rozel has really taken off with to many teenagers turning up to take part. What will the airsoft kids do when it rains? There is money to be made. Or if the States can't afford it, sub-letting the areas for these sorts of activities could help to cover the upkeep of the building. What about a climbing wall?

Fort Regent is a massive spare space and a very iconic building in Jersey (the dome was one of the most praised construction achievements of its time). Building new aquasplash complexes etc will only pour more money down the drain which is why I conclude that Jersey should try first, making the most out of what it already has on its doorstep.

Many thanks Claire

P.S. I have wondered why the skate park was not installed up at Fort Regent in the grounds?
