Review of speed limits
Here are my comments to represent my and opinions of the people that I serve via the hire of bikes in Jersey. Tourists that I serve come from all over Europe, French, Swiss, German, Dutch, Belgium, United Kingdom, and other places including USA, Canada, Israel, Russia, a list I know!!!
Diverse and all very much in the opinion that the Green lanes in Jersey are unique and offer a very beneficial way to see the Island at 15mph, where they feel safe from higher speeds that cars do on other roads and how children feel safe on these lanes. These people do also comment favourably on how motorists do seem considerate to cycle users in Jersey.
The propositions that are being put forward by the States on one hand reduce speed limits in some areas, roads in built up areas and housing developments etc and then to increase speed limits in Green lanes surely this will put the wrong idea forward ?
I hope these comments are useful and help to enforce a positive aspect to Green Lanes which I strongly believe should stay at 15mph. An increase in speed would surely encourage drivers to speed in other areas?
