Incorporation of the Ports of Jersey – Consultation Meeting

As you may be aware, in October 2012, the States Assembly approved the incorporation of Jersey Airport and Jersey Harbours into a single limited company Ports of Jersey Limited' to be wholly owned by the States of Jersey.

Since the passing of that Proposition, much work has been undertaken in order to prepare the ports for incorporation, and the Minister for Economic Development is now seeking views on the incorporation proposals prior to their submission to the States.

Comprehensive  information  relating  to  the  incorporation  proposals  is  available  on  the  website  at: www.gov.je/Government/Consultations/Pages/PortsIncorporation.aspx

In order to seek comments and views on the proposals, a series of Public Consultation Meetings has been arranged which will provide an open forum at which any topics of interest, areas of concern and queries can be freely raised by all attendees. The details of these meetings are shown below:

Wednesday, 25th June  7.00pm, Albert Terminal, Albert Quay Wednesday, 2nd July   7.00pm, Airport, Arrivals Hall Wednesday 23rd July   7.00pm, RJAHS, Trinity

Wednesday 6th August  7.00pm, Albert Terminal, Albert Quay

However,  we  also  understand  that  incorporation  may  raise  specific  questions  or  issues  for  Clubs, Societies and Associations with links to the Ports. We are therefore keen to give you the opportunity to be fully briefed on the details of incorporation, and to raise and discuss any particular questions or concerns that you may have.

Consequently, a meeting has been arranged specifically for these businesses which are to be held at Gate 1 Albert Terminal, 18:00 on Tuesday 08th July 2014.

From the feedback that we have already received, we understand that there are a number of key common areas of interest that may be raised such as pricing, lease terms, safety standards, maintenance of facilities, and access rights. This is not an exhaustive list and the consultation meeting will cover these matters, as well as any others that might be raised.

If there are particular topics of interest or areas of concern that you wish to table for discussion, or if you are unable to attend the meeting in person and wish to ensure that certain matters are raised, please feel free to contact us in advance of the meeting. Please send details of any particular queries or topics for discussion to: portsincorporation@gov.je

I hope that you will be able to come to the meeting along with some representative from your committee, as I am keen to ensure that we hear as wide a range of views and opinions as possible.

I also hope to have the opportunity to share with you our plans to establish a self-sustainable Ports of Jersey, and to respond in person to any concerns or queries that you might have.

Yours sincerely

Doug Bannister
