Having read the article posted by 103 on Facebook, I write to give my feedback regarding university fees and the cost of sending our children to Uni from Jersey.
I personally was lucky enough to be given £7,500 each year, for my daughter to attend Uni in Bournemouth. Unfortunately this does not cover the cost of living, rent, books, flights etc - we have to find another £850 per month for her to live on. This has meant that I have had to sell my home due to the debt I found myself in, having to maintain what amounts to two homes per month. I am lucky that I own a property, and have funding - without these two things, my daughter would not be able to attend Uni and yet I am still going to be in debt at the end of it and so is she, having had to borrow the short fall in fees of £4.5k for the three years.
I think there are lots of families suffering to send their kids to Uni, I am sure that more could be done to subsidise.
