The Children (Convention Rights) (Jersey) Law 2022 ("the Law") makes provision for and in connection with giving further effect in Jersey to the rights and obligations set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Article 10 (General obligations of duty-bearers) (1)(d) of the Law states, inter alia, that in every 12-month period a report must be prepared detailing how Ministerial duty- bearers have fulfilled their due regard duty over the previous 12-month period and publish that report not later than 6 months after the end of the that period.1
In terms of publication, the Law also states that the above may be published either separately, or as part of, any other report or document.2
This report relates to the period 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024.
Preliminary and full assessments (collectively "assessments") by the Council of Ministers or ministers individually are, primarily, undertaken as part of the development and lodging of propositions. All propositions are required to be lodged and published to the States Assembly website with the assessments being published alongside.
